Introducing the new Flame F3 semi-hollow
I’ve been thinking about redesigning my semi-hollowed bodied F3 model for a while. I wanted to build a guitar that has a wider and deeper body and reflects some of the styling I now use on my F1 model. With a body that is 350mm wide and 50mm deep, size wise, this guitar sit halfway between a typical solid body guitar and a 335 model.
The semi-hollow construction gives this guitar a lot of natural sustain. With regards to the sound, I wanted to produce a guitar that has more of a mid-range focus. Strat or a Tele it is not! It will probably appeal more to guitarists who play blues and jazz and use more clean sounds. But it can be customised if needed to produce a more aggressive, rock-based sound. This is not pretending to be a full jazz guitar. It is more of a hybrid guitar, and is similar in some ways to the Ibanez AM model. That said, I use this guitar in the jazz band that I play in. It is currently fitted with flat-wound strings, sounds great and is a joy to play.
